Adding someone to your account gives them the ability to manage the account, deposit money, set up payments and withdraw cash.
With this in mind, it is important to think carefully before entering into a joint account with someone, as you will both be liable for any debt on the account. This means that if you have an existing overdraft, or are looking to apply for one in the future, each account holder is responsible for the repayment of the balance and not just half of it.
